The Preface of Daydream

By LiQin Tan

The fusion of AI and biological neuronal synapses gives birth to AI+Bio dreams. Not only does it reveal the mysteries of the subconscious mind, but it also iteratively generates super-future AI+Bio dreams. Li Xinmo’s art collection, “Daydream,” leaves a profound imprint on this exploratory journey, featuring a blend of post-biological fantasy and AI aesthetic characteristics.

In her early years, Li Xinmo embarked on a dream exploration journey. Her works exhibit a fusion of Chinese and Western mythology with reality, alongside multiple collisions between dreams and imagination. She strives to explore the programmatic imaging of latent consciousness, integrating delicate and profound brushstrokes with uncertain thought processes to create hybrids of human and non-human creatures.

In 2015, DeepDream technology injected new underlying variables into her creations. When her paintings encountered this image recognition system based on artificial neural networks, a miracle occurred. DeepDream interprets paintings through deep learning, generating profound and dreamy images where the eternal alternation between abstraction and figuration provides endless primal energy for data variables.

In the AIGC era, the “Daydream” art collection offers AI artists different perspectives and case studies. It also prompts reflection: In a world dominated by data and algorithms, how should humans define their existence? When creativity is no longer exclusively human, how should artists redefine art and aesthetics?

I hope everyone can find their own understanding of AI art in the “Daydream” collection.
