Li Xinmo, artist, critics, curator, was born in 1976 in Yilan, Heilongjiang province, China. She graduated from Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts with a MA degree in 2008 and is now based in Beijing.
Her art, involving multiple media like performance, painting and video, explores memory, dream, subconsciousness with scripts, images, installation and live art. Her works, mainly dealing with gender, identity, and ecology, have been exhibited in some important museums like National Museum of World Culture in Sweden and Women's Museum in Germany, and participated in a series of art events, such as Toronto Biennial, China&Europe International Arts Biennial of Prague, etc.
Her works are collected by "Östasiatiska Museet" (in Sweden) and collectors from Britain, Germany, Switzerland, Singapore, etc. She was also given a special artist honor by UN Women. She has published articles on art journals like National Arts, Oriental Art Master, etc. She curated "Heterogeneous Body", a feminist art exhibition, "Performance Art and Postmodern Theater" at UCCA in 2017, "Map and Territory", an international art exhibition in 2018, and "In China", a German art exhibition at the German Embassy in Beijing.
