Cold Memory, Li Xinmo’s photography series from June 2011, was shot in a heavily polluted pond. Featuring Li lying in a dirty pond covered with algae, this series explores the connection between the death of nature and the death of women. From Ophelia to Woolf, the death of women has often been symbolically connected with water. This work is a re-enactment of moments when death approaches women. It becomes a form of spiritual therapy as the woman attempts to escape the embrace of death.
